Why Mini-Blue?

Our program was developed with 2 primary goals:

1)   To get laptops into the hands of more Fresno Unified students

2)   To provide a real-life training environment for high school & college interns

There are several advantages to the Mini-Blue Student Laptop Store (SLS) vs. a typical retail consumer electronics outlet, such a BestBuy or OfficeDepot.  They include:

1. Mini-Blue is a community-based program, developed and operated by Western Blue, with support from FUSD, HP and others.  It is managed by local IT experts, with help from program interns and parent volunteers.
2. Mini-Blue is focused on providing FUSD-approved Netbooks, select HP notebooks, complementary applications, peripheral and accessories… with better value and service than available elsewhere.
3. As Western Blue, we are FUSD’s primary IT partner, and as FUSD parents ourselves… we have a unique understanding of what students need and how to support them with the right technology.
4. Our Blue Warranty & Service.  Your Mini doesn’t work?  Just bring it in and we give you another.  Need help with an application of other technical issue?  No problem, we’ll help you!
5. Quiet, relaxing demonstration environment.  We have 5 demo kiosks all running different applications from web-surfing to movies to music, and even some homework!
6. Try out a Mini, order it online that night, pick it up the next day at the store.  We pre-test every unit with the buyer so you know your unit works and how to use it.
7. “Introduction to… “ training (starting in January).  30 minute starter sessions on everything from Mini’s to MySite.  Window 7 tips & tricks, Outlook optimization… even Excel!
